Yahoo Acquires MyBlogLog

Thanks to Lance Weiler, I’m feeling ahead of the curve! You might have noticed the introduced widget on the left sidebar or mine and many other blogs these days. MyBlogLog is a blogger community that encourages visiting new sites. Each producer enters all of the blogs or sites they author and through social networking tools, join communities, explore new subjects and interact with fellow bloggers. I’ve been a bit behind but I’m happy for the site founders that Yahoo! has purchased the company.

Why do you need it? Well, a quick glimpse at Technorati shows that the same blogs and subjects are regularly in the top 100. It’s easy to find BoingBoing or Daily Kos, but it isn’t so easy to find those of us who are somewhere in the tens or hundreds of thousands out there. There are many skeptics that think that is just fine cuz they probably aren’t any good anyway, but my experience is that there are many outstanding blogs with great information. Want to get some tips on marketing, public relations, wine, hiking? There are people sharing their expertise online in a manner once reserved for books. Is there a bunch of junk? Sure, but ones junk is anothers treasure.

If you are a blogger, MyBlogLog is a way to reach out to new audiences. As the widget shows, there are new visitors daily who probably wouldn’t have found the site. Congrats to the MyBlogLog creators!
