New Blog Design
If you are reading this in a feed reader, you can’t see all the work I’ve been doing on my blog! I’d like to invite you to stop by as I’ve implemented an exciting new theme “WP Magazine” (or at least I think so!). It was designed by Michael Pollock of Solostream, and it has a lot of cool details. Michael hasn’t had a chance to put together much documentation, so I’ve done many small mods to make it look the way I want but it’s still a bit wonky. I’ve also implemented a bunch of new plug-ins to improve the site. Though they are too many to mention now, my thanks goes out to all the open source developers who make this site and so many others “go.” I guess only folks who do this type of thing understand how easy it is to blow whole days on all this, which is what happened to me. I hope you like it; still some small tweaks to come, but let me know what you think. Happy New Year!
Site Improvements
A while back, Mitch wrote to me that my feeds were truncating and that it is annoying. Sorry about that; it seems it is at least in part due to upgrading to Wordpress 2.1. I installed a plug-in that is supposed to fix this, CompleteRSS, though on my feed subscription the old posts are not now full posts. Please let me know if you are reading my blog by feed and only getting partial posts (also, which reader are you using?).
I got a new Treo, turned my web browser toward my site and was horrified to see the entire page downloading (I purchased a limited data plan to start with), so I was happy to find a plug-in, Wordpress Mobile, that is supposed to help shrink it down to the bare necessities. I can also now supposedly mobile blog from my phone, and I can upload pics to my Flickr. I hope to test out both from upcoming festivals (in addition to Twitter, of course).
Do let me know if you have any feedback on what’s working and what ain’t. Thanks!
