Twitteriffic

Hi, Agnes Varnum.

Barack Obama (BarackObama) added you as a friend!

Check out Barack Obama’s profile here:

Best,

See, the web really does bring peeps together. Maybe Barack will hang at my pad when he stops in NYC? Not amused? Maybe my new favorite Twitterer will give you a giggle: Hasselhoff

Site Improvements

A while back, Mitch wrote to me that my feeds were truncating and that it is annoying. Sorry about that; it seems it is at least in part due to upgrading to 2.1. I installed a plug-in that is supposed to fix this, CompleteRSS, though on my feed subscription the old posts are not now full posts. Please let me know if you are reading my by feed and only getting partial posts (also, which reader are you using?).

I got a new Treo, turned my web browser toward my site and was horrified to see the entire page downloading (I purchased a limited data plan to start with), so I was happy to find a plug-in, Wordpress Mobile, that is supposed to help shrink it down to the bare necessities. I can also now supposedly mobile from my phone, and I can upload pics to my Flickr. I hope to test out both from upcoming festivals (in addition to Twitter, of course).

Do let me know if you have any feedback on what’s working and what ain’t. Thanks!

FestMob SXSW

All right, as SXSW draws near, the heat is a risin’ - and don’t mean that good ‘ol Texas BBQ that I plan to enjoy.

Lance Weiler has his FestMob project primed for another round and I’m excited to participate - if you didn’t check it out during Sundance, now’s your chance. Festival attendees upload video, comments, locations, pictures, even leave voicemails, all of which are logged on the site so those of us attending (presumably) can find out what’s going on and for those who can’t make it, check in and see what’s hot. Sign up now.

Our panel details have been launched - Blogging About Film on Tuesday, March 13 at 11:30 AM. Moderated by the illustrious Alison Willmore of The IFC Blog, Yours Truly, Lance, Mark Rabinowitz, Paul Harrill and Joel Heller will get chatty about film blogging. Totally cool group and I’m very excited!

And lastly, for now, I’ll be helping out my buds at Indiepix.net with some interviews - they have a booth at the expo to serve as podcast central, and they are even as you read this, signing up filmmakers and other indie media folks for quickie interviews. If you want to schedule a time to stop by and chat about your film or or whatever that will go up on their cool site, just let me know. I’ll get ya all hooked up.

Fest Mob - A Digital Connectivity Experiment

Flickr Pics from Fest MobSundance 07 is being ably covered, discussed, dissected elsewhere, but I wanted to draw your attention to a cool experiment by my digital buddy Lance Weiler. Think back to any fest you’ve ever been to - you want to find people fast, get them to meet you where you are or make plans to meet up later; sometimes you walk out of an amazing film or a total bomb and you want to shout it out to all your peeps. And all the while, you may be thinking that it would be very cool if the whole world could participate in such a great experience.

Lance’s description of Fest Mob: “Using mobile phones fest goers document their fest experience by texting, photographing and recording vid with their cell phones. Then all the info is uploaded to the fest mob to create a real-time document of the festival.”

It’s all happening very quickly and I’ve been to tied up to participate this time around, but I’m hoping they work out the kinks and I can give it a shot from SXSW!
