Herzog in NYC
There is a lot of very cool doc stuff going on in NYC over the next few weeks. Coming up this weekend is Werner Herzog at Film Forum. I am probably going to Little Dieter Needs to Fly on Saturday night, but if you can only see one, I’d like to recommend The White Diamond. I saw the film at IDFA a few years back and the film has stayed with me. I don’t want to say much about it; Herzog understands men of singular mind who exist along boundaries and somehow he manages to share his understanding. If you liked Grizzly Man, you will like The White Diamond.
He is going to be at some of the screenings, and there is also a special presentation at the Goethe Institut of a work-in-progress. It’s a Herzogian weekend!
[Update: More unfortunate ticket policies left me dissed! I had to finally give in and get Dieter on DVD from Netlix. Ah, you're always there for me baby. xo]
