About a Son Coming to NYC, 10/3
I would have posted about fellow blogger and friend AJ Schnack’s film, Kurt Cobain About a Son, opening in NYC on October 3rd, whether he had asked or not. It’s a beautiful film and more than worth your dime (or dime & half in NYC) to watch on the big screen. But, in AJ’s typical playful and fun way, he has turned blogging about his opening into a challenge. He writes:
“A couple weeks ago, a reviewer for St Louis’ Riverfront Times (part of the Village Voice/New Times/Proctor & Gamble conglomerate) asked me to come up with a soundtrack for my own life that was similar to what I did for Kurt Cobain in the film, namely to choose important music from his life (although not his own), from all parts of his life and of diverse genres. What I came up with, after having to hang up, come up with the list and email it back to her, can be found here.”
I see that Tom Hall went whole-hog in his post, discussing why the songs mean something to him and posting the videos. I’ll do the links but keep my reasons to myself. After all, sometimes it’s more fun to guess why something might mean something to another person (like people tend to do for stars like Cobain) or to try to figure how it might have contributed to how we are now. I will say that mine are in order, from childhood to adulthood (wink):
