NYC Food Film Fest

I got an email from the lovely “asparagus movie” ladies, better known as Anne de Mare & Kirsten Kelly, that their funny doc Asparagus! A Stalk-umentary is screening this weekend at the Water Taxi Beach as part of NYC’s first Food Film Fest. Also on the program is the wonderful Crazy Legs Conti by Danielle Franco & Chris Kennelay, an astounding display of competitive eating that I promise will wow you. Sounds like much fun!

From the email: This is a film festival, so plan on coming for dinner! There’s a special asparagus menu and Harry’s is inexpensive and really yummy (made from actual fresh Michigan Asparagus!) but you must buy your food tickets in advance — do it soon because supplies are limited! The beach’s regular bar and concession stand will also be open all night (FYI no outside or drink allowed).

I’ll be at SILVERDOCS so I can’t join you, but do let me know if you hit the beach. I’d love to hear about it.

  1. Agnes, thanks so much for posting the info on the Food Film Fest. I can finally tell my former landlady in Astoria where the Water Taxi Beach is. Last summer, she told me she heard about some beach in Long Island City, but she didn’t know the location. I had no idea what she was talking about. I tried googling it, called 311, and couldn’t find anything. So the Water Taxi Beach just has to be what she asked me to help her find last year. She’s going to be so happy.
