Blogger or Clogger?
Anne Thompson writes in Variety, Blogs reshaping film coverage, about how blogs are changing the dynamics of movie coverage where the studios and PR people are figuring out how to navigate the changing landscape. The blogs she mentions are, to me, the exceptions not the rule in terms of influence and site traffic. They have risen above the din to become major film sites. Anthony Kaufman follows up Thompson’s thoughts with his own take, as a reader (or at least browser) of the independent film blog world noticing that there is a lot more hamburger than filet mignon out there. He coins a new term, “clogger” for critic-blogger, which isn’t necessarily a good thing to him. I still think the best part of blogging is that it isn’t a one-way street; we can share information with one another to find what we want. I also think it’s also very cool that there is a way for people who have something to say to say it. Anyone want to recommend their favorite critic, blogger, clogger?

That’s a great point Agnes, I love the dialogue blogging can create.
We are starting to use blogging to promote our documentary “FLYING: Confessions of a Free Woman” which is being released theatrically at the Film Forum in July and other cities around the country in the late summer. We have been reaching out to different bloggers to write about the film and so far its been working out pretty well!
