Movies, panels and parties

I’m sitting in my hotel lobby on my next to last day in Austin for SXSW 2007. I guess because the panel that I will be speaking on is today at 11:30 - Blogging About Film - I’m feeling a bit pensive, reflecting on my time here this week. I’ve been kind of distracted, unable to get to all of the screenings and panels I want to hear and support. I missed Orphans and Maybe Baby which is a major bummer. But, the reason I’ve felt pulled in so many directions is actually a result of my own success, as it is. I’ve spent the year building out my connections to the industry in a variety of ways and now I’m lucky to know more people and I’m more in touch with new films and filmmakers, which is very cool. Being back in Austin and feeling like some big part of my life has come full circle is turning out to leave me feeling a bit sad. If I haven’t said it before, thanks to all my current and future friends and colleagues who read this blog. Having your support and kind words is really amazing. I’m proud that it is something I love doing that others find useful. Onwards!

On the SXSW front, I saw Cat Dancers yesterday and highly recommend it. It’s a quirky and tragic story but it is a beautifully crafted film with a huge helping of heart. I’ll be posting about Manufacturing Dissent and a festival wrap up when I get back to Joisey.

  1. Your success inspires me to be a success. Does that make sense?
