New Year’s Resolutions
I won’t bore you with my personal to-do list for 2007, but the holidays do re-energize me for tackling the new year, so I wanted to share some of the resources I’m using, on the web, to help me along.
Need inspiration to get started? Dean Karnazes ran 50 marathons in 50 days and that isn’t even his most astonishing accomplishment. Via Wired, The Perfect Human by Joshua Davis.
Lifehacker. “Don’t live to geek; geek to live.” This useful site brings software plugins and hacks, the best of free and shareware, articles and tips - there are a lot of sites devoted to blogging tips, etc. but these writers think about how technology and life intersect.
Steve Pavlina is pretty honest that he started his website to make money and like many life coaches, he is at times long-winded. But…his advice is solid and he gives actionable items. For instance, in a recent post, Showing Up, he leaves little room for debate on how to get going on typical new year promises like getting fit and falling in love.
Get out and about! Sometimes I’m so overwhelmed by possibilities, I just stay at home rather than try to figure out what to do - I keep an eye on this great site devoted to low cost and very uncool activities in and around NYC: Uncoolkids.
Mediabistro. I’ve been utilizing the free job listings at this great site, but there is also a great daily round-up of media related news, premium services (marked with AG) like short courses, books and events geared toward media professionals. I’ll let you know if I wind up getting a job from a posting there.
Health and peace be with you all year long!
