R.I.P. Stephen Heywood

Stephen Heywood and his FamilyStephen Heywood’s battle with ALS was chronicled by filmmakers Steven Ascher and Jeanne Jordan in So Much So Fast. I received an email from them that Stephen died on Sunday, November 26 when “his ventilator tube accidentally detached in the early morning on Friday.”

True to that family’s strength and character, they did everything possible to revive him but wound up spending his last hours saying goodbye. Stephen’s organs were donated.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousands winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
