At home and looking for something to watch? Catch up with Joe Swanberg’s Young American Bodies on Nerve.com.

Swanberg has made a name for himself in the indie film world with Kissing on the Mouth and LOL, neither of which I’ve seen but both travel with good word-of-mouth. Early on, I checked out an episode or two of YAB, but was confused by the intertwining storylines - we enter into the lives of the characters without much set-up. I went back to the site last week and saw that this season is over so I watched the whole enchilada from start to finish. I’ll say right off the bat, as with any good serial, each episode ends with enough fodder for the next so be prepared.

I was captivated by how accurate the portrayal of relationships are in these pieces. The characters don’t often say what they mean to one another, there are misunderstandings between them and the main character Ben (played by Swanberg) is a sweet guy who thinks he wants one thing when he is really looking for something else. There is a good amount of sex and nudity to keep it spicy.
